Bringing Methods to Scale: New Perspectives in the Changing World of TB

This year's World TB Day marks the halfway point for the Global Plan to Stop TB. We must scale up efforts and continue to seek innovative ways to stop TB if we are to achieve our targets. Join us for a discussion of TB and drug-resistant TB, including the impact on global health and the current state of surveillance, diagnosis and treatment around the world.

Opening Remarks: Laurel Vogelsang, Director of International Government Affairs, Eli Lilly and Company

Moderator: Smita Baruah, Director of Government Relations, Global Health Council

Speakers:
Dr. Mario Raviglione, Stop TB Department, WHO, will give an update on the global TB situation based on WHO's recently released WHO/Stop TB MDR/XDR TB Report.

Dr. Rachel Nugent, Deputy Director for Global Health, Center for Global Development, will be addressing ways in which multi-drug resistant TB (MDR-TB) can inform growing concerns about the larger context of drug resistance in global health.

Dr. Celine Gounder, Director for Deliverables, CREATE, just returned from Malawi, and she will be addressing the combined epidemic of TB and HIV and the effects of community-based research.
