Global Development Matters: Foreign Assistance for the 21st Century Online Video Campaign

Jun 3, 2008

The world is becoming increasingly interconnected as opportunities and challenges here in the U.S. and abroad tie Americans to the rest of the world in ways we are only beginning to understand. American foreign assistance programs have proven to be an influential aspect of U.S. engagement with the world in the past, but its foreign assistance policy was written in 1961. A lot has changed since then. Global Development Matters, a project by the Center for Global Development (CGD), has launched a new video and online petition calling on the next president to make modernizing foreign assistance a priority in the next administration.

On Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008, CGD held a breakfast screening of  the Foreign Assistance for the 21st Century Online Video Campaign. Michael Hoffman, CEO, See3 Communications, Martin Kearns, Founder/President, Green Media Toolshed and Lawrence MacDonald, Director of Communications and Policy, Center for Global Development provided remarks on the power of social media and online activism to effect policy change.
