David Witzel
EducationMPP, Harvard Kennedy School (1991) BS, Texas A&M University (1983) BackgroundDave, a founder of Forum One Communications, spent the past twelve years as a consultant working with multi-lateral and non-profit organizations to understand and use the power of the Internet. His clients have included The World Bank, Global Development Network, Population Reference Bureau, CGAP, International Women’s Media Foundation, and the Urban Institute. He has worked with the Center for Global Development, practically since its inception, on development of web services and ways to leverage the internet to improve international development outcomes. During 2008 he will be a Visiting Senior Program Associate at the Center focusing on the creation of internet-enabled public goods (like open source software and open education resources) and understanding “the commons” – shared efforts to produce and manage these goods. Dave's background includes time as a teacher with the U.S. Peace Corps in Botswana, as a computer programmer at a couple of software companies, an international development consultant in Indonesia and Burkina Faso, and with the World Bank where he worked for David Wheeler on pollution modeling efforts. He came of age in Texas and, when not at his computer, spends his time with his wife Claudia and their two boys Adam and Zachary. |
