On CGD's main blog I recently lobbed brickbats at the UN for ceasing to release data that we need to update the Commitment to Development Index. And I proffered kudos on the IMF for publicly calling for taxation of greenhouse gas emissions around the world.
I was a discussant last week for the second entry in a new seminar series hosted here in Washington by 3ie and IFPRI.
It's springtime in Bangladesh, a time when marigolds bloom and a hostile government's fancy lightly turns to thoughts of appointing commissions to investigate banks for the poor. Last year, a commission looked into such issues as whether the Grameen Bank's handling of Norwegian money was nefarious (it determined not) and whether the bank's interest rates were high (no again).
