Patty Stonesifer serves as a private philanthropic advisor; Chair, Board of Regents, Smithsonian Institution and Senior Advisor to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. From 1997 until 2008 Patty served as President and/or CEO of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. In addition to her work in philanthropy, she serves on the board of Amazon.com and the Broad Institute. Stonesifer is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, and served as a member of the U.S. delegation to the United Nations General Assembly Special Session on AIDS. Before helping found the Gates Foundation, she had a two-decade career in technology with her last role as senior vice president at Microsoft. |
