The strategies for achieving these goals include renewing economic growth with a focus on equity, strengthening the linkages between poverty reduction strategies and macroeconomic policy, reducing regional and rural/urban disparities, and improving the productive capacities of the poor. World Bank Involvement
As of September 2008, the World Bank had approved 23 projects for Cape Verde amounting to about US$271 million, of which about US$252 million had been disbursed. Nineteen projects have been closed, and the current portfolio of four projects represents about US$58.5 million, with an undisbursed balance of about US$19.7 million. These four projects are: (a) HIV/AIDS, (b) Growth and Competitiveness, (c) Road Sector Support, and (d) Poverty Reduction Support Credit IV. Overall, Cape Verde's portfolio is performing well.
