Burkina Faso

Initially selected for the Threshold Program in 2005, Burkina Faso was deemed fully eligible for the MCA in the 2006, 2007 and 2008 selection rounds. MCA StatusMCC signed a $480.94 million compact with Burkina Faso on July 14, 2008. The compact focuses on rural land governance (land tenure and management), agricultural development to expand production and increase agricultural value and volume, and transportation (roads project). In FY2005, Burkina Faso was deemed eligible for threshold program funding. Burkina Faso was the first country to receive funding under the Threshold Program, signing an agreement with MCC on July 22, 2005. Valued at $12.9 million, the program focuses on improving girls' primary education completion rates.
