To help in the prevention of guinea worm, DuPont and Precision Fabrics donated more than $14 million worth of cloth for filters. One of the most cost-effective ways of improving safety of the drinking water was passing it through a cloth filter. The new nylon cloth was developed that was less prone to clogging. Since the start of the campaign in 1986, disease prevalence has dropped 99 percent and the number of cases has fallen from 3.5 million to less than 35,000. |
