China Passes U.S., Leads World in Power Sector Carbon Emissions

CGD has released the first annual update of its Carbon Monitoring for Action (CARMA) database and the news is not good. China has passed the U.S. as the country with the largest greenhouse gas emissions from power generation although the U.S. is still the worst on a per capita basis. News that India’s national power company is the third largest corporate emitter in the world drew interest in India and sparked a lively discussion.
