Making Health Pay: Performance-Based IncentivesPerformance-based incentives--paying people to do the right thing when it comes to health care--is an increasingly popular approach for improving the behavior of managers, healthcare providers, patients, parents and other household decision makers. A CGD working group is exploring whether and how these incentives work. Four new case studies for the project have just been released. These include papers on the detection and treatment of tuberculosis and on conditional cash transfers in Latin America and the Caribbean, and two country studies, one for Nicaragua and one for Haiti.
