Progress Towards A New Impact Evaluation Institution

At a meeting that CGD convened at the Rockefeller Foundation's conference center in Bellagio, Italy, representatives from governments, development agencies, and foundations agreed to move forward with an ambitious new effort to assess the impact of development programs on individuals and communities. Drawing upon-and modifying-the recommendations of CGD's Evaluation Gap Working Group report, participants finalized the design of a proposed new independent entity, the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation, to foster more high-quality studies of how development programs affect poverty reduction, health and education outcomes.
