Innovative Development Finance Mechanisms: The Pros and Cons of the International Tax Plan
On January 26, 2005 Jean-Pierre Landau, General Auditor of the Treasury of France and Chair of President Chirac’s Task Force on International Taxation to Finance Development, presented the report of President Chirac’s Task Force on International Taxation to Finance Development to a meeting of aid and development experts at the Center for Global Development. The report explores the potential for various forms of international taxation to support achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). CGD Senior Fellow William Cline spoke as a discussant.
