Andrew Schrank earned his PhD at the University of Wisconsin and is currently the Olive C. Watson Professor of Sociology and International and Public Affairs at Brown University, where he is also affiliated with the Population Studies and Training Center and the Department of Political Science. He studies the organization, regulation, and performance of industry, especially in Latin America. He is best-known for his work on “network failures” in global supply chains, the “Franco-Iberian” model of labor market regulation, and the conceptualization and measurement of governance. Professor Schrank’s research has been funded by the National Science Foundation, the Social Science Research Council, and the MacArthur Foundation, among others. He has consulted for the World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, and various US government agencies. And he serves as the Co-Director of the CIFAR Program on Innovation, Equity, and the Future of Prosperity.
