Anit Mukherjee is a policy fellow at the Center for Global Development working on fiscal policy, public expenditure management and service delivery. His current research focuses on the impact of fiscal devolution on sub-national health financing reform in developing countries including India. His other research interests include using technology platforms such as biometrics for pro-poor service delivery, and enhancing accountability and transparency in public expenditure through community participation.

Prior to CGD, Mukherjee was associate professor at the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy, New Delhi from 2005-2013, where he conducted research and policy analysis to improve efficiency and effectiveness of public expenditure. He has also been a trainer in public finance for government officials from several developing countries, and worked as an adviser to the Government of Yemen in 2004. He is the co-author of a forthcoming book Social Sector in a Decentralized Economy: India in the Era of Globalization (Cambridge University Press).
