The Millennium Challenge Corporation, trade, social welfare, public policy


Franck Wiebe is a visiting fellow at CGD. He is currently professor and faculty director of the new Master of International Development Policy program at the Georgetown University's McCourt School of Public Policy. He spent six years as the Millennium Challenge Corporation's chief economist (2006 -2012) and managed the technical teams responsible for the economic analysis of proposed investment programs and the design and oversight of rigorous, independent impact evaluation strategy. He led the MCC's constraints to growth analysis that is used to focus the MCC proposal development process and now informs the White House-led Partnership for Growth efforts. Prior to joining MCC, Wiebe was chief economist at The Asia Foundation (1999-2006) and worked with the Harvard Institute for International Development as a member of a consulting team in the Indonesian Ministry of Finance, where he was conducted economic research on poverty, trade, food, and social welfare policies.
