Tim Baker is a physician and researcher in anaesthesia and intensive care. He is currently based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and is a member of faculty at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences in Dar, and Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden. He has appointments at Ifakara Health Institute in Dar es Salaam and Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm and has ongoing work and consultancies with WHO, UNICEF, the World Bank, and Wellcome Trust. Baker’s interest is in evaluating and improving global health services and health systems, primarily in the areas of emergency and critical care, focusing on the provision of good quality care to acutely ill patients in low-resource settings.
