Part-Time Research Assistant, Middle East and Central Asia Region


The Center for Global Development (CGD), an independent, non-partisan, non-profit policy research organization in Washington, DC seeks a part-time (10 hours per week), research assistant to provide support to the President in the areas of economics, financial policy, and current affairs relating to the countries of the Middle East and Central Asia.

General responsibilities:

  • Provide weekly in-person updates to the President on topics related to CGD’s areas of research interest in the region;
  • Compile and synthesize data from various sources, including multilateral institutions, financial institutions, and country websites;
  • Deliver thoughtful, insightful summaries of important developments and trends in the region;
  • Assist with other research, writing, and analysis tasks as assigned.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in economics or related discipline with a focus on the Middle East;
  • Minimum of a 3.5 GPA on a U.S. scale or equivalent;
  • Strong demonstrated interest in and knowledge of the Middle East;
  • Demonstrated research skills;
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills;
  • Arabic or French language skills are a plus.
