Labor MobilityCGD research fellow Michael Clemens ignited a storm of controversy with his proposal to create a new Golden Door Visa for victims of the Haitian quake and others in very poor countries. In a recently published working paper and a related video inspired by the TED Talks, he argues that labor mobility is the most effective path out of poverty—and the single biggest development idea no one has really tried.
