Scott Morris, a senior associate at the Center for Global Development, sees no competition between the [World Bank and New Development Bank], given the huge infrastructure financing needs and the World Bank’s depth of experience. Moreover he doubts NDB will stray all that far in its operating principles from global norms – be it on human rights, environmental standards or anti-corruption issues. What is important though is coordination.
“There is an imperative here that the NDB work effectively with existing multilaterals,” Morris said.
