With three years until the conclusion of the Millenium Development Goals, attention is turning to the lessons learned. Charles Kenny, senior fellow at the Centre for Global Development, believes they have been a game changer. “For a document that was an aspirational statement with no legal standing, it has been wildly successful,” he says. “The UN produces a lot of poetic, beautiful and important language every year, but most of it nobody thinks about six months later, let alone 10-plus years later.”
