John Simon, a leader in promoting private investment in low-income countries, has joined CGD as a visiting fellow. Simon is former executive vice president of the U.S. Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) and recently served as the U.S. ambassador to the African Union. At CGD, he will draw on his public- and private-sector experience to explore the impact of socially oriented private investment on the developing world.
