The Narrative Around Girls Staying In School Must Change

No degree of yearning or commitment to one’s goals has the fortitude to withstand the causes of their departures such as school fees, marriage or pregnancy, the last two of which were the reasons 1 in 3 female dropouts quit school between February 2020 and March 2021, according to a nationally representative phone survey conducted by The Centre for Education Research and Training (CERT) in collaboration with the Center for Global Development (CGD) and the National Statistical Office of Malawi.
