US Ramps Up Response to Spiraling Ebola Outbreak (MSNBC The Cyclists)

September 17, 2014

From the segment:

Todd Moss: "I think the Ebola crisis highlights how some fragile countries that are close US allies are going to continue to need US assistance, but also that Americans’ lives that sometimes seem very far away from Africa; we’re much more intertwined with Africa than we think. It’s not only for bad reasons, a lot of it is for positive things going on." “It’s clear that countries like Liberia, which is a very close US ally, are going to need a lot of quick assistance. They don’t have the systems in place to contain it. They look to the United States for help. And, frankly, we’ve been too slow in getting off the dime to help them." “You know, Africa actually really is a positive economic story right now. More than half of the countries are growing at at least five percent."
