The Center for Global Development, an independent, non-profit policy research organization in Washington, DC seeks a Research Assistant to provide research and organizational support to two Senior Researchers. Currently, we are seeking applicants for the following position:
General Responsibilities:
- Conduct literature and data searches for ongoing research projects.
- Clean and conduct statistical analysis of complex datasets in Stata.
- Organize and attend meetings/conferences related to research priorities.
- Provide other research, writing and editing support for various reports and documents.
- Perform other duties as necessary in support of Senior Research staff.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:
- Master’s degree in economics or other development-related field. Outstanding candidates with bachelor’s degrees and relevant skills will also be considered.
- Extensive training in econometrics, microeconomic theory, macroeconomic theory and development economics and experience in applying econometrics are required. Training in labor economics or public finance is desirable. Mathematics background is helpful.
- 1-2 years work experience is desirable.
- Software: Essential skills: Stata for the descriptive and econometric analysis of cross-section and panel data. MS Excel to construct spreadsheet models and to make publication quality graphics. MS Word competence including page formatting. Desirable skills: Reference Manager, Scientific Word, Mathematica, Maple, MathCad
- Familiarity with issues related to development economics, foreign policy, and related topics.
- Outstanding communications and writing skills. It is desirable, but not in any way required, that the candidate have language skills in French, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Hindi, or Bengali.
- Ability to work independently and with small groups.
Salary:
- Low $30’s commensurate with experience.
