CGD cannot tell you that your investment will go directly for new schools, healthy children or thriving villages. What CGD offers instead is something more far-reaching: the assurance that everything CGD does supports change in the global system so that poor people have more opportunities to improve their lives.
By working to change policies, CGD is changing the world. As you can glean from our website and the impacts we have had since our founding in 2001, rigorous research and active engagement in the policy process provide opportunities for remarkable leverage. CGD can change the policies and practices of global institutions; and can fundamentally alter the playing field so that poor people in developing countries will have better and lasting opportunities.

In May 2014, a Transparify report awarded CGD the highest rating (five stars) for our open disclosure of funding, making us one of the most transparent think tanks in the US and worldwide. See the How We're Funded page for more information on who funds above 1% of our annual budget, how much they each contribute, and where the money is spent.
