Drug Resistance and Global Health Update December 2009

Dear

Colleague
,

Warmest wishes for a healthy and happy holiday season!

This month, in lieu of a feature guest column, we would like to focus readers’ attention on the eight recommendations in the recently-posted Drug Resistance Working Group (DRWG) consultation draft report. We invite you to view these recommendations along with a set of critical questions. We hope that you will provide feedback and thank you in advance.

Congratulations to our colleagues at ReAct for their work in getting EU health ministers to adopt a strong policy directive on the need for innovative incentives to encourage development of effective antibiotics.

As always, we welcome your thoughts at
drug_resistance@cgdev.org.

Regards,

Monthly Guest Column

The DRWG’s consultation draft report proposes eight recommendations for global action on drug resistance. We will continue refining these recommendations so that the final report prioritizes the most effective and feasible actions for global organizations to take against drug resistance. To do this, we need your input here. To get you started, we have included some of the important questions we are still exploring about what works to combat resistance. We welcome your responses.
