OF NOTE THIS WEEK
Earlier this week the Global Fund announced the creation of a new Dow Jones Index, called the Dow Jones Global Fund 50 Index. According to the press release, the index will measure the performance of the largest companies that support the Global Fund's mission, with a portion of revenues generated through the licensing of the index going directly to the Global Fund. Michel Kazatchkine, Executive Director of the Global Fund, expressed satisfaction in this collaboration. Not only will the partnership "provide the financial community with incentives to participate in innovative financing of health for development", he said, but it will also help the Global Fund "strengthen [their] engagement with the private sector and bring the power of financial markets to help save lives." This partnership is the result of a memorandum signed earlier this year between the Global Fund and the Dow Jones Index.
