OF NOTE THIS WEEK
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called development aid a 'central pillar' of U.S. foreign policy in a speech last week at CGD, Voice of America reports. Clinton highlighted PEPFAR as a successful example of development support and said the U.S. will focus more attention on maternal, newborn and child health, where there is still a long way to go.
UNAIDS is joing the push to virtually eliminate mother-to-child transmission of HIV in sub-Saharan Africa through the Millennium Villages Project launched late last year, said Executive Director Michel Sidibé.
