November 6, 2009 Copenhagen prognosis A few short weeks before the much-anticipated COP15 climate change conference in Copenhagen, China and India may be softening their stances and the US Senate is inching toward climate legislation, but it is far from clear what will actually happen there. Jan von der Goltz offers a look at recent developments, in "33 Days to Copenhagen - Progress, Stalemate, and a Game-Changer?". Needed: climate change attitude adjustment A recent FT/Harris poll asked residents of several developed countries what they thought about reducing emissions in the developing world, with discouraging results. However, CGD president Nancy Birdsall finds fault in the design of the poll, and argues that an efficient, equitable climate agreement must take into account the realities of energy use and climate change costs in the developing world.
