Dear Colleague,
I would like to draw your attention to a recent Policy Forum piece in Science magazine, by a team of economists and environmental scientists. These experts named antibiotic resistance as one of seven “crises areas” which are driven by human activity and which urgently demand a new order of cooperative international agreement and action. We completely agree, and our forthcoming draft report will outline areas of international cooperation and action that can address the issue comprehensively and with appropriate urgency.
Also welcome is new market research that highlights the impact of drug resistance on pharmaceutical revenue from antibiotics. We agree with the report’s argument that preserving the effectiveness of existing antibiotics is critical to protecting public health.
Thanks for your interest, and please share your thoughts with us at [email protected].
