Cash on Delivery Aid E-Update September 2009

Dear Colleagues,

On Sunday, October 4th, Nancy Birdsall will present COD Aid on a CGD panel entitled The Aid System: Does ‘Mutual Accountability’ Encourage Outcomes? at the World Bank and IMF Civil Society Forum at their upcoming annual meetings in Istanbul.  The panel will feature Donald Kaberuka, the President of the African Development Bank, Hilde Johnson, the Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF, and Max Lawson, the Head of Development Finance and Public Services of Oxfam Great Britain as well as Nancy Birdsall.  More information on the event can be found here, and we welcome any readers attending the meetings to join the discussion.  For those attending the meetings that are interested in learning more about COD Aid, please email me to learn about other meetings we will host this week in Istanbul.

On Monday October 5th and Tuesday October 6th, Bill Savedoff will be holding informational sessions on COD Aid in Lilongwe, Malawi.  Any individual or organization in Lilongwe interested in learning more about COD Aid can contact Bill Savedoff.

In other news, this month COD Aid was featured in a monthly column written by CGD Visiting Fellow Satish Chand in Islands Business magazine.  You can read the electronic version of this article here

For more information on this event, and other information on the initiative, please visit the COD Aid page of our website, and stay tuned for the launch of our forthcoming book Cash on Delivery: a New Approach to Foreign Aid with an Application to Primary Schooling.  The book will be available next month.  And as always, your feedback is greatly appreciated.  Please send any COD Aid-related thoughts or questions to me.

Best wishes,
