A four-day scientific congress on AIDS vaccines kicked off Monday in Paris with global AIDS leaders, including Michel Kazatchkine and Peter Piot, pleading with donors to maintain support for efforts to combat the virus despite the global financial crisis, Agence France-Presse reports. Awareness that funding is dropping tempered excitement at the conference about recent encouraging vaccine trial results and new scientific developments, Times Live reports.
