OF NOTE THIS WEEK

The HIV/AIDS Monitor team is excited to announce the release of our most recent country-level study on the relationship between AIDS donors and human resources for health. The report, Zeroing In: AIDS Donors and Africa's Health Workforce", looks at how the short-term interventions of the donors did little to address the long-term sustainability and capacity of the health workforce to handle all health needs. Through a comparison and analysis of the current and future role of PEPFAR, the Global Fund and the World Bank in national efforts to develop the health workforce, the report identifies six tasks for donors, national governments and country stakeholders to undertake to reverse the severe shortage of skilled, motivated and productive health workers. The report is available here.
