OF NOTE THIS WEEK
USAID administrator, Raj Shah, met with UNAIDS Executive Director, Michel Sidibé, in Geneva last week. At the meeting, Sidibé shared UNAIDS' priorities for action in the AIDS response going forward as outlined in the new UNAIDS strategy, which aims to achieve their vision of zero new infections, zero discrimination and zero AIDS-related deaths. Dr. Shah discussed the recently launched USAID FORWARD, which emphasizes innovation and delivering results. Lastly, Shah and Sidibé considered how USAID and UNAIDS can strategize together to ensure that new HIV prevention technologies are both evidence informed and reach those in need.
Also, for those of you interested in the Global Fund corruption debate, there have been many comments in response to the CGD blogs (see here and here) on this topic.
