Randall Soderquist was a senior trade program associate and, with CGD senior fellow Kimberly Elliott, co-directed the CGD Trade and Development Program. Prior to joining CGD, served as Director for the Economic Policy Program and the Trade and Poverty Forum at the German Marshall Fund of the United States, the focus of which was a range of issues – the impact of globalization on developed and developing countries, the stability of the international trading system, viable investment environments in emerging and developing economies, transatlantic political economic relations, entrepreneurship and affordable capital, and effective development aid policies.
Before he joined GMF, Randall served on the staff of Senator Jeff Bingaman of New Mexico as Senior Policy Advisor for Economic and International Affairs. During his eight years in the Senate, he was specifically responsible for all policy related to international trade and finance for Senator Bingaman on the Senate Finance Committee, all policy related to labor on the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, foreign affairs, and economic development issues. He also served as liaison to a number of Senate and Congressional Working Groups, including the Congressional Competitiveness Caucus and the New Economy Task Force. Prior to his time in the Senate, Randall worked as an Associate Program Manager for the Japan and Korea Program at the National Science Foundation.
