By working to change policies, CGD is changing the world. Since 2001, our evidence-based research, policy analysis, and active engagement with global thought leaders have led to real solutions for the world’s most vulnerable populations. We have developed a variety of opportunities for individuals, corporations, foundations, bilateral organizations, and others to engage with the Center. Our impact depends in large part on our robust and growing networks of supporters and partners. We invite you to become an active member of this community and work with us to fundamentally alter the playing field so that poor people in developing countries will have better and lasting opportunities.
Please find below several possible ways to engage.
Foundations, Bilateral Organizations, and Other NGOs
The Center for Global Development works with foundations, bilateral organizations, and other NGOs on shared research and policy priorities. If you are interested in learning more about a thought partnership with CGD, please email development@cgdev.org to learn more about collaborating with CGD experts.
Partners Council
The Partners Council is a forum of highly respected corporate and individual actors committed to making the world a more prosperous, just, and safe place for us all. Business and civic leaders benefit from our well-informed, independent, and data-driven analysis. And CGD in turn learns from our Partners Council colleagues as the private sector plays an increasingly significant role in development.
Partners Council members are able to engage directly with CGD experts and our network through private breakfasts, preferred access to briefings and events, tailored communications, and more. Through these benefits, they gain insight on issues that are relevant to their businesses and exchange valuable perspectives on shared global challenges.
CGD Society
CGD Society members share a commitment to a better future for people in the developing world. Our supporters are well-informed professionals, policymakers, advocates, students, and others who value independent, rigorous research and active engagement in the policy process — and understand how much can be accomplished through policy change. Society members gain preferred access to the Center's public conferences, events and informal meetings. These are unparalleled opportunities to exchange ideas and information with CGD experts, and with leading figures in international policy, business, NGO, and media circles. Society members also receive copies of select CGD publications throughout the year. To join, we ask Society members to make a gift of $150 or more to help defray the costs of our high-quality outreach activities and publications.
The CDI Consortium is a group of foreign aid ministries invested in the work and principles of the Center’s Commitment to Development Index (CDI). By providing a private forum for officials within donor governments to influence the growth and direction of the Index, the Consortium facilitates cross-collaboration and dialogue on the ways that rich-country policies affect global prosperity, good governance, and security.
Participants benefit from exclusive engagement with experts including development economists, ministry officials, economic advisors, embassy officials, policy advisors, and multilateral representatives on a broad range of development issues. They also contribute to current debates on policies that matter to global development, with the ultimate aim of improving the policies of their governments along the seven dimensions of the CDI: aid, trade, finance, migration, environment, security, and technology.
The Legacy Society honors and acknowledges alumni board members and friends of CGD who have made plans for the Center through trust, estate, or other future gifts. The group recognizes the vital role benefactors have played and will play in the Center’s ability to provide independent research and practical ideas for global prosperity in our first ten years and the role they play today in ensuring its continued impact. Your membership involves no dues, obligations, or solicitations, but it does allow us to thank you and recognize you for the plans you have made, and it may inspire generosity in others.
CGD is deeply committed to the principles of transparency and accountability for fostering better development outcomes and in our work. We believe in applying the same standards of transparency to our own funding, a level of disclosure that goes beyond the information traditionally disclosed in US tax forms and annual reports.
