A regional workshop on Pay for Performance (P4P) in Asia will be held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India from January19-23, 2009. Sponsored by USAID, AUSAID, the Center for Global Development, Norad and the World Bank, this workshop will support 16 teams from Asian countries (see the application form for eligible countries). The workshop content builds in part on the findings of CGD's Working Group on Performance-Based Incentives in Health, which has reviewed experiences linking payment to health care providers and/or patients based on verified performance and behavior change. Workshop participants will learn about P4P approaches thathave achieved positive results in countries as diverse as India, Afghanistan, Haiti, Nicaragua and Rwanda. Attendees will work in teams to identify what is impeding good performance in particular settings, and to design andimplement a country-specific performance-based financing approach. The five most promising country approaches will be provided seed grants to further develop a P4P country program. Please submit your expressions of interest by completing the on-line application form by October 29, 2008.
