World Bank Institute hosts Just after last September's High-Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness in Accra, the Economist offered the stark assessment that, the development aid business is in shambles. Sought-after development results are often disappointing to all concerned, deepening the scepticism that surrounds development aid. In Accra, donors and developing countries agreed to an agenda for action, to "take bold steps to reform the way aid is given and spent." So what are the prospects for these "bold steps"? Articles in the current issue of Development Outreach reflect the complexity and dilemmas behind the Accra Agenda for Action. At this round table, authors of some of this issue's essays will discuss the challenges of making the Accra commitments reality, from the perspectives of the developing countries, bilateral donors, the US and Germany will be emphasized and the World Bank, among others.
