Second Annual Richard H. Sabot Lecture

The second annual Richard H. Sabot Memorial Lecture was held on Wednesday, June 20th, with an insightful talk from Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, former finance minister and minister of foreign affairs of Nigeria and distinguished visiting fellow at the Brookings Institution, entitled, "Corruption: Myths and Realities in a Developing Country Context."

Richard H. "Dick" Sabot was an economist, scholar, farmer and Internet pioneer. A founding member of the Center for Global Development Board, Dick epitomized two attributes that CGD strive for every day--hard-headedness and soft-heartedness.

Dick Sabot's son, Oliver Sabot, and Ed Scott, chairman of the CGD board, delivered introductory remarks. CGD president Nancy Birdsall chaired the discussion and moderated the audience Q&A session.
