Aid Effectiveness: A Debate Between Steve Radelet and William Easterly

This week a Council on Foreign Relations online debate, The Effectiveness of Foreign Aid, features CGD senior fellow Steve Radelet and CGD visiting fellow William Easterly discussing how to make aid more effective. Radelet starts by saying that the broader debate on aid is too polarized and that the real challenge is to find hardheaded solutions to make aid more effective and to get more of it to those that can use it well. Easterly says that Radelet's effort to find a reasonable middle ground would be laudable--except that the foreign aid system won't play along and be reasonable. Learn more
