Job Opening: Receptionist/Administrative Assistant

The Center for Global Development (CGD) seeks a receptionist/administrative assistant to provide reception and administrative support for its staff members.

General Responsibilities:

  • Front Desk Reception. Receives incoming calls and transfers calls to appropriate staff. Receives visitors and vendors. Ascertains the purpose of the visit and refers to the proper staff member or personally furnishes information desired. Maintains a group calendar for the organization. Processes all incoming and outgoing mail. Processes all courier and shipping requests.
  • Administrative Assistant. Serves as back up and assistant to the president's executive assistant. Assists office manager with database entry tasks and mail merges. Receives and screens incoming calls for the president. Controls incoming correspondence and Outlook emails. Reviews correspondence, screens items to be handled personally, and forwards the remainder to the appropriate staff. Composes letters, memoranda and responses to inquiries not of a technical nature. Prepares tables, charts, spreadsheets, and memos using Microsoft Office 2003. Schedules conference calls for staff. Orders and maintains inventory of office supplies. Calls in service repair work for general office equipment. Assists CGD staff with mailings and miscellaneous projects. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma.
  • Three years of administrative experience is required.
  • Types 50 wpm.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 2003, particularly Outlook 2000/2003, including its database functionality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills and decision-making skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Self-initiator with the ability to collect information, coordinate with others and resolve routine problems.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively, independently and in a fast paced team environment.
  • Excellent attendance history.

Salary
High $20's – Low $30's, commensurate with education and experience.
