Lorne Craner Nominated to MCC Board of Directors

May 04, 2007

A couple of weeks ago, when we blogged the nomination of Alan Patricof (supported by the House Deomcrats) to the MCC Board of Directors, we mentioned the rumored front runner for Board nomiation from the House Republicans. It's now official. Yesterday it was announced that the President intends to nominate Lorne Craner, President of the International Republican Institute, to the MCC Board of Directors to fill one of the remaining seats reserved for NGO representatives. Mr. Craner was recommended by former House Majority Leader John Boehner and will bring years of both government and NGO experience to the Board. His tenure at IRI has been marked by an expansion of the organization's participation in promoting democracy and increasing women's participation--issues that resonate well with the goals and policies of the MCC.
