Last year, Gabriel Demombynes and I released evidence that the Millennium Villages Project was overstating its impacts on African villages, and missing a great opportunity to learn via careful evaluation.

This evidence was broadly discussed (in the Financial Times, Marginal Revolution, the Kenyan Press, top development blogs, and elsewhere), and the Project's leadership was aware of the problem and actively involved in the discussion. We hoped that the Project might take into account at least a portion of what we said.

I was amazed and confused to learn, three days ago, that the Project continues to systematically overstate its effects, exactly as it did before we said anything.

Over at the World Bank's Africa Can End Poverty blog, Gabriel and I explain exactly what happened.
