Raquel Gomes is the Research and Evaluation Coordinator for USAID’s Office of Microenterprise and Private Enterprise Promotion. She was a 2011-2013 Science and Technology Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science positioned at USAID. Previously, she was the Research Manager for Oxfam America’s work on aid effectiveness. At CGD, she was a 2005 postdoctoral research fellow contributing to research on girls’ education and the impact of US policies on pro-poor growth abroad.
Her current work focuses on improving the use of development evaluations to guide programming and understanding how to apply a systems approach to development.
Raquel holds a Ph.D in international development from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a B.S. and M.S. in agricultural economics from the University of Maryland and the University of Arizona, respectively.
