Biometric ID

Alan Gelb’s work on new biometric technologies for identification helped the World Bank launch ID4D, an entirely new program of analytical work, lending, and assistance that takes an integrated view of the role of ID in development. CGD’s ongoing expertise in this area is helping shape best practices in numerous applications including elections, financial inclusion, and discouraging child trafficking.

Gelb is also on the advisory board of a new initiative, ID4Africa, which enables countries to learn from each other and to better understand the range of choices presented by ID systems and technology.
