Program and Outreach Coordinator – Migration and Development

The Center for Global Development, an independent, non-partisan research organization in Washington, DC seeks a Program Coordinator to support work on migration, forced displacement, and development. CGD has recently scaled up its work to develop and recommend innovative solutions and frameworks designed to assist refugees and migrants, as well as their countries of origin and destination. The Program Coordinator’s role is to fulfill a broad array of research, policy outreach, and support functions. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong management, analytical, and communications skills; experience working on international development and migration/refugee issues is also desired.

The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of duties, including:

  • Organize and coordinate workflow on migration and forced displacement
  • Track migration and development news and newly published research
  • Organize internal and external meetings and conferences; help with scheduling and logistics for senior staff
  • Support policy outreach team in activities related to migration program, including tracking relevant policy developments, such as legislation and hearings
  • Support policy outreach team in developing opportunities to share research and policy proposals with the US government, international financial institutions, the United Nations system, and the development and immigration advocacy communities
  • Assist with fundraising prospects
  • Carry out literature reviews and conduct background research
  • Provide other research, writing, and editing support
  • Perform other administrative and basic research tasks as necessary

Qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in international development, economics, or another related field
  • Knowledge of migration and refugee issues highly desired; prior work experience in these fields helpful though not strictly necessary
  • Superb organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfort working independently and with little supervision. An ability to see ahead and think strategically is essential
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Proficiency in a foreign language, particularly Spanish, preferred but not required
  • Study or work experience in a developing country a plus
