To help in the prevention of guinea worm, Precision Fabrics, with DuPont Corporation, donated several million square yards of nylon for water filters, valued at more than $14 million. One of the most cost-effective ways of improving safety of the drinking water was passing it through a cloth filter. The new nylon cloth was developed that was less prone to clogging. Since the start of the campaign in 1986, disease prevalence has dropped 99 percent and the number of cases has fallen from 3.5 million to less than 35,000.
