OF NOTE THIS WEEK
On Tuesday, Dr. Eric Goosby assumed the role of US Global AIDS Coordinator after being confirmed last week by the Senate, according to a PEPFAR press release. Goosby will lead all US international HIV/AIDS efforts, as well as oversee PEPFAR implementation and US engagement with the Global Fund. Goosby, who was previously CEO and Chief Medical Officer of Pangaea Global AIDS Foundation, has worked closely with international partners on the development of successful HIV/AIDS treatment and treatment-based prevention strategies for high-risk populations.
