OF NOTE THIS WEEK
The Global Fund said Friday that it had recently disbursed $4.25 million to Uganda's Ministry of Finance to help fund the purchase of critically needed ARVs. The Fund, who suspended support to the country in 2005, reaffirmed its commitment to working with the government and other partners in Uganda, and added that larger disbursements are expected after the basic requirements have been met. The move comes after a renewed commitment from the government to address past weaknesses and strengthen health systems in the long term, All Africa reports.
