AFP announces CGD's annual State of the Union Bingo event.

From the Article:

WASHINGTON — Thousands of Americans will be listening Tuesday when President Barack Obama delivers the annual State of the Union address.

Some, however, will be hanging on every word because the president could help them win a State of the Union bingo game -- including one being organized by anti-poverty think-tank, the Center for Global Development (CGD).

CGD bingo cards, printed with words the anti-poverty group hopes the president will say in his speech, will be distributed to diners at a State of the Union watch-party at a Washington restaurant, or can be downloaded by those who live far from the US capital but still want in on the game.

The words include "Afghanistan" and "Haiti," two of the poorest countries in the world; "girls," who in the developing world are discriminated against because of their gender (the president could use the word if he refers to his daughters, Malia and Sasha); and "Cannes," the glitzy French resort which is pronounced 'can' in English.

Cannes is not on the bingo card in case the president rolls out his "Yes We Can" catch phrase, but "because it will be the venue for the 2011 G-20 Summit," CGD's outreach and policy assistant Kaci Farrell told AFP.

She did say, however, that the game judges could show some leniency if players confuse "Cannes" in French with "can" in English.
